If you’ve been driving to Manchester or Chester for a padel fix, Northwich has closed that gap. Destination Padel opened here in December 2024, and it did something more than add another set of courts to Cheshire’s map – it became the county’s first fully indoor padel venue, at a time when most of your options were outdoor courts crossing their fingers about the weather.

Destination Padel: the courts and facilities

Destination Padel sits at Wolstencroft, Unit 42, Winnington Business Park, CW8 4DL – a short drive from Northwich town centre. Five panoramic courts run indoors year-round, including a centre show court with reversed colours (black turf, pink steel frame) and its own spectator seating. The other four courts use the venue’s signature look: bright pink turf against black panoramic steel, a detail nobody else in the region has copied yet.

The rest of the build matches the ambition. Changing rooms and showers, a café, a work hub for anyone squeezing a session between calls, a stretch and social zone, and free secure parking. A club review from properpadel.uk called the facilities among the best in the North West, and praised how much space there is between courts – enough to properly warm up without dodging another match’s stray balls. The one gripe on record: it’s roughly 40 minutes from central Manchester, so this is a destination booking rather than a drop-in on the way home.

What it costs (including the weekday off-peak special)

Peak pricing runs up to £48/hr on weekday evenings and at weekends – rates are set by Playtomic and can shift, so it’s worth checking the app before you book. The number worth remembering is the weekday off-peak special: £12/hr for members, £15/hr for non-members, every weekday between 8am and 5pm. That’s roughly a third of the peak rate, and it’s the kind of deal that gets buried in a pricing table if nobody points it out. If your schedule has any flexibility – working from home, a day off, a lunch break that stretches – this is when to play.

Membership itself is inexpensive relative to the saving: around £25 a year for under-65s, £15 for over-65s, on top of the off-peak discount and 20% off the bar. No membership is required to book at all – Destination Padel runs pay-and-play as standard, with block bookings available if you want to lock in a regular slot with the same group.

Booking and getting started

Every court books through the Playtomic app – search Destination Padel Northwich, pick a slot, pay. Rental rackets are available on-site for a couple of pounds if you’re trying the sport before committing to your own kit. Opening hours are generous: 7am-10pm on weekdays, 7am-9pm on Saturdays, and 8am-8pm on Sundays, which covers early risers and after-work sessions alike.

Why Northwich matters for Cheshire padel

Cheshire’s padel scene has grown fast, but most of it has been outdoor: floodlit courts bolted onto golf clubs and leisure centres, playable in summer and a harder sell in January. Destination Padel changed that calculation for the whole county when it opened as Cheshire’s first venue built indoors from the ground up: five courts under one roof from day one, rather than a covered addition bolted onto an existing outdoor setup. Wilmslow’s Padel Club is adding covered courts of its own, but as of now they’re still under construction, with its four live courts remaining outdoor. For a Cheshire player who wants a guaranteed indoor game in the depths of winter, Northwich has been the answer for over a year – and the pink turf and show court give it a personality that’s rare among padel venues built purely to a spreadsheet.

If Northwich itself is a bit of a trek, Chester has its own indoor options closer to the Welsh border, with a second, larger venue due in 2026.

Getting there and parking

Winnington Business Park sits just off the A533, a few minutes from Northwich town centre and well signposted once you’re on the estate. Parking is free and secure, with clear signage to the venue – no scrambling for a space or feeding a meter before your match.
