Cardiff now has three pay-and-play padel venues and a fourth club on the way, plus members-only courts at David Lloyd Cardiff.
The venues are varied: a canopy-covered complex at Llandaff Fields, a premium indoor club at Cardiff Bay, and a mid-range multi-sport facility next to Cardiff City Stadium. Whether you’ve never picked up a padel racket or you’re after a club with a bar and a sauna, Cardiff now has real options – and you can compare them before booking.
Three pay-and-play venues open right now, published prices from £26/hr, and a fourth club announced. Here’s what each one offers, who it suits, and how to book.

Smash Padel says no membership is required, and House of Sport sells court time by the hour. David Lloyd Cardiff’s courts are for members on its Platinum package.
Smash Padel Cardiff: six courts at Llandaff
Smash Padel at Llandaff Fields has six panoramic courts under a canopy, open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm.
The canopy design is worth understanding before you book. The courts are covered overhead, so you’re protected from rain while still playing in open air. In Cardiff’s climate, that’s a reasonable compromise – you won’t be drenched during a drizzly session, but you’ll feel the temperature.
Booking is through the Nettla app, which also handles coaching, public matches and social events, so download it before your first visit. Smash Padel doesn’t publish court prices on its website; check the app for live rates. Racket hire costs £3 per hour, so you don’t need your own equipment to start. Free intro sessions are available for complete beginners and are the lowest-friction way to try padel for the first time.
There’s a café on site, open to the public and dog friendly, which helps if you’re there for a morning session.
Cardiff University Padel Club uses Smash Padel Cardiff as its host venue for the 2026/27 season. If you’re new to the game and want to meet people to play with, the public matches and social events on Nettla are a good starting point.
The Cardiff Padel Community Instagram (@cardiffpadelcommunity) organises social play independently of any single venue.
Padium Cardiff: an indoor club at Cardiff Bay
Padium Cardiff is open at Cardiff Bay Retail Park. Padium, which also runs a club at Canary Wharf in London, announced the Cardiff site as a 35,000 sq ft club with eight indoor courts.
Beyond the courts, Padium lists the Ace Bar, a players’ lounge, a co-working space, changing facilities, a sauna with views over the courts and cold plunges. It’s designed as a padel destination – somewhere you’d spend a couple of hours, have a drink, and make a day of it.
Bookings run through the Padel Mates app, linked from Padium’s Cardiff page. Padium’s website doesn’t publish court prices, membership options or opening hours for Cardiff, so check Padel Mates for live rates and availability before you go.
Padium Cardiff suits players who want a proper club environment: indoor courts, a bar, somewhere to sit after the session. For a first try at the sport, Smash Padel’s free intro sessions are the cheaper starting point.
Cardiff City House of Sport
Cardiff City House of Sport sits on Clos Parc Morgannwg, next to Cardiff City Stadium – a large multi-sport facility. The padel offering is six indoor courts.
Pricing is straightforward: £26 per hour or £39 for 90 minutes. Racket hire is £1.50 per racket, and balls can be bought at £6 for a set of three. Since 9 March 2026, all padel bookings have been handled through Playtomic, which also lets you join open matches. Playtomic lists padel hours of 9am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9am to 9:30pm on Sunday.
Café Central is on site, so you can eat before or after.
House of Sport is the only one of the three venues to publish its court prices, which makes it the easiest to budget for. If you want indoor courts at a known rate with no membership, this is a sensible choice.
A fourth Cardiff venue is coming
The Padel Club, which already runs venues including Wilmslow, Gloucester Quays and Trafford City, has announced a Cardiff club listed as coming soon, with no confirmed opening date yet. The planned facility will have four indoor panoramic courts under a 10-metre-high roof, two canopy courts, and one outdoor court – seven courts in total.
Prices and the exact site aren’t public yet, and booking will run through Playtomic. We’ll update this guide with confirmed details once the venue opens.

Where to start if you’ve never played before
Smash Padel Cardiff offers free intro sessions via Nettla – the easiest way to try padel in Cardiff with no commitment.
Padel is easy to pick up. The court is enclosed by glass and metal walls, and once the ball has bounced it can be played off them, so rallies last longer than in tennis and you spend less time chasing after wild shots. How padel differs from tennis is a useful read if you want the full picture before your first session.
For a first visit in Cardiff, Smash Padel is the obvious starting point. The free intro sessions mean you don’t pay anything to try it, and the racket hire is cheap. Book via the Nettla app, turn up in trainers (ideally court shoes rather than running shoes, though this matters less for a first session), and expect to spend the first fifteen minutes learning how the scoring works.
If you want to start playing regularly after that first session, two things help: finding a regular group, and understanding what your first month of padel looks like. The @cardiffpadelcommunity Instagram is a good place to look for games.
For social formats once you’re a few sessions in, Americano is the format to know – it’s the standard format for social padel events. Many venues run social padel sessions in this format, so look for those on the booking apps once you’re past your first few games.
What about the rest of Wales?
Cardiff is Wales’ padel hub, but it’s worth knowing the wider picture. Bridgend, Swansea, and Wrexham have their own venues, while Newport has none open yet – see our guides to padel in Newport, padel in Bridgend, padel in Swansea, and padel in Wrexham for what’s available outside the capital. West of the city, Unbound Padel on Llantrisant Business Park, near Pontyclun, opened in May 2026 with four indoor courts. A four-court venue in Cwmcarn was reported as approved by Caerphilly council planners in June 2026, but it is not open or bookable yet.
Cardiff’s padel options have grown fast, and The Padel Club’s announcement suggests operators think there’s room for more. If you’re deciding between Cardiff’s venues, how to choose a padel club gives a framework for comparing what matters beyond location. And how to find people to play padel with is the practical guide once you have a venue sorted.
