Coleraine has had its own padel courts since October 2025. If you’ve searched for “padel Coleraine” expecting to find nothing, or expecting a 45-minute drive to the nearest court, that’s out of date. Powerhouse Padel opened on Hanover Place last autumn, and it’s been running five indoor courts ever since.

Where to play — Powerhouse Padel, Hanover Place

Powerhouse Padel sits on Hanover Place in Coleraine, in a former JJB Sports warehouse converted into five indoor courts. The conversion cost around £50,000, backed by the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland through Whiterock, and was founded by Elliott McKew and Simon Moutray.

All five courts are indoor with panoramic glass walls: a Centre Court, Courts 1 to 3, and a dedicated Singles Court. That last one is worth noting — most new UK padel venues build doubles courts only, so a purpose-built singles court sets this venue apart if you’re playing one-on-one or working on solo drills. The venue also has disabled access, equipment rental, free parking, a cafeteria and snack bar, and WiFi.

Being fully indoor matters more here than in most of the UK. The Causeway Coast gets its share of wind and rain off the Atlantic, and an outdoor court on this stretch of coastline loses a lot of playable hours over a year. Powerhouse Padel doesn’t have that problem — you can book knowing the session will happen regardless of what the sky is doing.

Prices and booking

Court prices at Powerhouse Padel run £28-36 per hour. That figure comes from the Playskan aggregator, not the venue’s own published rate card, so treat it as a guide and check Playtomic for the price on the day and time you want.

Booking goes through the Playtomic app or website — no membership, no waiting list, no phone calls. Search “Powerhouse Padel” in the app, pick a court and a time, pay, and you’re in. The venue is open seven days a week, all year round, which gives you plenty of flexibility if you’re trying to get a regular group together around work and school schedules.

How new the venue is

Powerhouse Padel opened on 22 October 2025, making it, at time of writing, not quite a year old. It’s press-described as the first dedicated padel facility in the Causeway area — the catchment that covers Coleraine, Portstewart, Portrush, Bushmills and the surrounding villages.

Coleraine’s court predates the wider north coast padel network covered in our piece on Let’s Go Padel’s Northern Ireland expansion, which focused on Let’s Go Padel’s Ballymoney venue opening in March 2026. That article’s framing described a “45-minute drive” for anyone on the north coast wanting to play — accurate for Portstewart and Portrush at that point, but Coleraine itself had already had Powerhouse Padel for five months by the time it was written. If you’re coming from Coleraine specifically, the drive has been zero minutes since October 2025.

The venue’s own plans include tournaments, coaching sessions, kids’ camps during school holidays, and social nights. Those are stated ambitions from the launch, not yet independently confirmed as regular fixtures, so check Powerhouse Padel’s own channels before planning a visit around a specific event.

Nearest alternatives

The closest other padel venue is Let’s Go Padel in Ballymoney, roughly 8 miles and a 10-15 minute drive away. It’s a different operator, with a different booking system and a smaller court count at Phase 1.

Powerhouse Padel has the larger, more established court count right now. Ballymoney has the advantage if you’re already over that way, and its Social Saturdays (12-2pm, open sessions, no fixed group needed) are a good option if you want to turn up solo and find a game. For the fuller picture of how the network around Ballymoney has grown, our NI expansion piece covers the other seven Let’s Go Padel venues across Northern Ireland.

Visiting the north coast and want a game

The Causeway Coast pulls in a steady stream of visitors and second-home owners heading for the Giant’s Causeway, Portrush and Portstewart. If you’re one of them and you play padel, Powerhouse Padel is an easy add-on to a north coast trip — book a court on Playtomic the same way you would at home, no local membership or introduction required.

It’s also worth checking our Belfast guide if your trip takes in the city as well as the coast — Belfast has three venues currently taking bookings, plus more on the way through 2026, and it’s under an hour’s drive from Coleraine.
