Worksop doesn’t get mentioned much in UK padel coverage, and until recently that made sense – there wasn’t anything to cover. That’s changed, just not by much. The town now has one padel court, tucked inside an existing sports club. If you’re searching for padel in Worksop expecting a proper multi-court set-up, temper your expectations. If you just want somewhere to play without a long drive, there’s more here than you’d think.

The one court in Worksop

Manton Sports Club, on Retford Road (S80 2PU), has a single covered padel court alongside its other sports facilities. Manton is a long-standing social and sports club that bolted a court onto an existing site, rather than a venue built around padel from scratch. The court is real, bookable, and open every day from 8am to 10.30pm.

Court hire runs £20–£28 per hour, which splits to roughly £5–£7 a head across four players. Bookings go through Playtomic, the same platform used by most padel venues in the UK. The club also has free parking, a restaurant, changing rooms, and racket hire on site, so you don’t need your own kit to turn up and play.

One court means one thing above all else: book ahead. Evenings and weekends will be tight, especially now word is starting to spread locally.

The better option: Tuxford, 12 miles away

If you want more than one court, or your slot at Manton is already gone, That Padel Club in Tuxford is the best move. It’s about 12 miles from Worksop – roughly 15 minutes by car – and has 4 indoor courts, changing rooms with showers, a spectator area, and a bar and café open evenings and weekends.

Pricing is £24–£30 per hour, close enough to Manton’s rates that the extra distance is easily worth it if you want a proper choice of court times. Racket hire is free off-peak (6am–4pm weekdays) and £3 at peak times. Everything books through Playtomic.

For a small Nottinghamshire town with effectively one home court, having a four-court venue this close is a real convenience – closer than any of Worksop’s bigger neighbouring cities.

Sheffield, Mansfield, and Chesterfield as backup

If Tuxford and Manton are both booked out, the surrounding cities all have padel, though none of them are especially close:

Sheffield (17.6 miles, around 30 minutes) has the strongest scene of the three, with several indoor venues across the city. See our padel in Sheffield guide for the full rundown.

Mansfield (14 miles, around 25 minutes) has WPA Mansfield’s four covered courts next to One Call Stadium, with a much larger second venue in planning. Full details in our padel in Mansfield guide.

Chesterfield (16 miles, around 30 minutes) has padel too, though the scene there is smaller and newer – worth checking Playtomic availability before making the trip.

Realistically, unless Sheffield or Mansfield offer something Tuxford doesn’t (a specific coach, a social session, a particular time slot), there’s little reason to drive past a four-court venue 12 miles away to reach a city 15-30 minutes further out.

Booking and getting started

All three venues mentioned here – Manton, Tuxford, and the wider Sheffield/Mansfield/Chesterfield options – book through Playtomic. Download the app, search by location, and you’ll see live availability and pricing for each court.

If you’ve never played, racket hire is available at both Manton and Tuxford, so there’s no barrier to just turning up. For a broader look at how court booking works across the UK, padel court near me covers the main platforms and what to expect as a first-timer.

Worksop’s padel scene is thin, but it isn’t nothing. One local court plus a strong four-court venue a short drive away is a reasonable starting point for a town this size – and with Tuxford still growing, there’s a decent chance more capacity lands even closer before long.
