Surrey was always going to be good padel territory. Dense population, high spending power, a history of tennis clubs with space to convert, and a catchment area that stretches from Greater London’s edges down to the North Downs. The county now has over 100 padel courts across dozens of venues, ranging from tennis club conversions with a single court to purpose-built facilities with five indoors, a café, and a members’ gym.

The challenge for Surrey players is not finding a court – it’s knowing which one makes sense given where you live. The county is large enough that Guildford and Weybridge might as well be different countries from a commute perspective.

Epsom: the best indoor option in the county

The Padel Hub Epsom is the strongest indoor padel venue in Surrey at the time of writing. Five world-class indoor courts, a fully licensed café and bar, luxury changing rooms, and an on-site gym – the full destination package, and the reviews reflect it. The venue sits at KT19 and is accessible from Epsom, Ewell, Banstead, and the wider A24 corridor.

Pricing is per player, which is slightly different from the per-court model most venues use. Off-peak sessions run £22.50 per player, peak slots go to £30 – for a 90-minute session. That puts it at roughly £15–£20 per person per hour, which is above the Surrey county average but not unreasonable for five indoor courts with a full hospitality offering. Membership brings those rates down and includes priority booking access.

Courts book through Playtomic. The Padel Hub also runs coaching across ability levels and a social programme for players looking to meet other members.

For anyone in north or mid Surrey who wants to play regardless of weather, Epsom is currently the obvious answer.

Guildford: four outdoor courts now, ten indoor coming

PadelStars Guildford operates four automated-floodlit outdoor courts at Surrey Sports Park, Richard Meyjes Road (GU2 7AD). The facility is well-established, runs social mix-ins and coaching, and books through the PadelStars app. Peak pricing runs £8–£10 per person depending on membership status; off-peak slots before 4pm on weekdays come in cheaper for non-members too.

The bigger story in Guildford is what’s in the pipeline. PadelStars and the University of Surrey are developing a 10-court indoor complex at the Surrey Sports Park site, which will include a show court, a large clubhouse, café, bar, and retail space. When it opens, it will be the largest dedicated padel facility in Surrey. The target is 2026; for the latest on timing, check the PadelStars website.

Until then, the four outdoor courts offer good provision for players in Guildford, and the Sports Park setting – with parking and broader facilities on site – makes it a sensible base for a session.

North and mid Surrey: Weybridge, Esher, Cobham, Leatherhead

This cluster of venues stretches across the A307 and A3 corridor between London and Guildford, and between them they cover most of north Surrey’s padel needs.

Weybridge Padel Club books via Playtomic with pay-and-play access. Churchfields Recreation Ground in Weybridge has courts available on a pay-and-play basis and draws consistently strong reviews. CourtFit Cobham books through Playtomic and is well-rated.

Esher Tennis & Padel runs padel alongside its main tennis operation, bookable through ClubSpark. Oxshott Village Sports Club near Leatherhead operates on a more members-focused model.

Most of these venues are outdoor, which is worth knowing if you’re planning sessions through winter. The outdoor courts in Surrey’s tennis clubs are generally well-maintained and floodlit for evening play, but they’re still open to the weather in a way that Epsom’s indoor courts aren’t. Year-round padel in the UK covers how most players manage this in practice.

Pricing in Surrey

Surrey sits noticeably above the national average for padel court costs. How much padel costs across the UK shows national averages in the £15–£25 per court per hour range; Surrey venues tend to sit at £25–£40 per hour. The Padel Hub Epsom’s per-player pricing of £22.50–£30 for 90 minutes reflects the full premium offering.

For players closer to London, it’s worth running the comparison: a Surrey venue is often a shorter journey than getting into central London, and the court quality at the better Surrey venues is comparable to anything you’d find inside the M25. The padel in London guide covers the capital’s options if you’re weighing up the two.

Getting started in Surrey

Both PadelStars Guildford and The Padel Hub Epsom run beginner coaching and social sessions – good entry points if you’ve never played. PadelStars’ social mix-ins are well-suited to players looking to meet others rather than arriving with a ready-made four.

Pay-and-play is available at most Surrey venues through Playtomic or ClubSpark, so booking without a membership is straightforward at all the main locations. If you’re new to the sport, the how to start playing padel guide covers what to expect before your first session.

Surrey’s padel scene will shift when the Guildford 10-court complex opens – it’ll give the county a flagship facility with the scale to run proper events and leagues. Until then, Epsom is the indoor benchmark, and the cluster of north Surrey venues covers the rest of the county reasonably well.
