Stafford is a county town with a growing padel scene, anchored by a dedicated club that opened at one of the town’s established cricket and hockey venues. If you’re based in the town or the surrounding county, here’s what you need to know.
Stafford Padel Club
The main venue for padel in Stafford town is Stafford Padel Club, which operates three outdoor courts at Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club on Riverway (ST16 3WB). The courts are set within 11 acres of parkland and are LED-lit for day and evening play.
Prices start from £5 per person per hour, which puts Stafford among the more affordable venues in the Midlands. Equipment is available on-site if you’re coming without a racket, and the facility has changing rooms, free parking, and a licensed bar.
Booking is through the Padel Mates app, where you can also find coach-led sessions and group play. Opening hours run Monday to Saturday 6am–10:30pm and Sunday 6am–10pm.
The club hosts padel at every level – if you’re new to the sport, the coaching sessions are worth booking before your first social game. The surface and LED floodlights are solid for a club venue, and the parkland setting makes it a more pleasant environment than a lot of urban padel facilities.
What’s coming to Stafford
David Lloyd has submitted planning applications (reference 26/41955/FUL) for a new health, fitness, and racquets club on land north of the M6 and south of Creswell Grove, Stafford. The proposal includes three outdoor padel courts enclosed within a canopy, alongside a full club facility. If approved, it would add significantly to Stafford’s padel capacity and bring the sport to a larger catchment of players.
The planning application was out for public consultation in early 2026, with the full application stage following. No approval date has been confirmed at the time of writing.
Staffordshire beyond Stafford
The county has more padel than Stafford town alone suggests. Staffordshire Moorlands – the area that includes Stoke-on-Trent and Leek – has several active venues.
Your Padel Uttoxeter (ST14 5AU) is the standout in the county: seven indoor courts, which makes it one of the larger padel facilities in the East Midlands corridor. Uttoxeter is about 20 miles north-east of Stafford via the A518 – worth the trip if you want more court availability or are looking for better indoor conditions.
Game4Padel at Draycott Sports Centre runs in the Staffordshire Moorlands area and has been active in promoting social padel sessions and beginner coaching.
For a bigger selection again, Stoke-on-Trent is 18 miles north and has multiple venues including Ace Padel Stoke and others covered in the padel in Stoke-on-Trent guide.
Getting to Stafford Padel Club
The venue is at Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club, Riverway, Stafford ST16 3WB. Free parking is available on-site. Stafford train station is about 1.5 miles away – manageable on foot, or a short taxi ride.
Stafford sits at a useful midpoint in the Staffordshire corridor. If you’re travelling from Wolverhampton (20 miles south), the A449 gets you there directly. From Birmingham, it’s around 25 miles up the M6.
Where to look if Stafford’s courts are full
Check Your Padel Uttoxeter first – seven indoor courts 20 miles north-east, usually with availability. Book via the Padel Mates app for Stafford.
The Padel Mates app is the booking platform at Stafford Padel Club, and it will show you live court availability. If the Stafford courts are booked out, Your Padel Uttoxeter has more courts and tends to have available slots. The padel in Wolverhampton guide covers the options 20 miles south, and padel in Birmingham gives you the full picture for the wider West Midlands.
