If you live in Solihull and have been driving into Birmingham city centre for a game, you can stop. The borough now has two venues of its own – seven courts between them, both bookable on Playtomic, neither requiring a membership.
Pure Padel Solihull (4 courts, Shirley) and Liv Padel Four Ashes (3 courts, Dorridge). Pay-and-play from £28/hr. No trip into Birmingham required.
Where to play in Solihull
Two venues, both open now, both a shorter drive than the city centre for most of the borough.
| Venue | Location | Courts | Type | Booking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pure Padel Solihull | Haslucks Green Rd, Shirley B90 2EL | 4 (3 covered + 1 outdoor) | Covered panoramic + outdoor | Playtomic |
| Liv Padel Four Ashes | Four Ashes Golf Centre, Four Ashes Rd, Dorridge B93 8NQ | 3 | Outdoor, floodlit | Playtomic |
Pure Padel Solihull sits in Shirley, on the northern side of the borough. Three covered panoramic courts plus one outdoor court, a clubhouse with a licensed bar, a pro shop, and parking on site. It’s part of the same Pure Padel group behind the Jewellery Quarter venue in Birmingham city centre – but this one is a distinct, standalone club, not an extension of it. Bookable from 7am to 10pm daily via Playtomic, pay-and-play, no membership needed. Racket and ball hire are available if you turn up without gear.
Liv Padel Four Ashes opened at the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge, on the borough’s southern edge near Knowle. Three floodlit courts and a social lounge, built onto an existing golf club site – which means proper parking and a clubhouse already set up for people hanging around after their game. Also Playtomic-only, split-payment supported, open seven days a week from 8am to 10pm.
Both of those are pay-and-play. Solihull also has a members-only option: David Lloyd Solihull Cranmore on Cranmore Boulevard, Shirley (B90 4ZL) lists brand new outdoor padel courts for Platinum members. Its padel page gives no court count.
For context on how Solihull fits into the wider West Midlands picture, padel in Birmingham covers the city centre and inner-city venues – Core Padel, Connect Padel, Pure Padel Jewellery Quarter, and more.
Solihull vs central Birmingham: which is closer?
If you live in Solihull, Shirley, Dorridge, or Knowle, a local venue beats driving into Birmingham for parking and drive time alone.
Central Birmingham’s best-known venue, Pure Padel Jewellery Quarter, sits in the B1 postcode near Snow Hill station – great if you work in the city centre, less great if you’re driving in from the suburbs and need somewhere to park. Solihull’s two venues both have dedicated on-site parking, which matters more than it sounds once you’ve circled a city-centre car park twice looking for a space before a booked court slot.
Shirley and Dorridge are also a good 20-30 minutes closer than the city centre for anyone in the southern half of the borough – Dorridge, Knowle, Hockley Heath, Bentley Heath. If you’re closer to Olton, Acocks Green, or Solihull town centre, Pure Padel Solihull in Shirley is the shorter run of the two.
The tradeoff is choice. Birmingham has seven venues and counting; Solihull has two. If neither local venue has a slot free, the city centre options are still there.
How much does it cost?
Pure Padel Solihull starts from £28/hr, split evenly through Playtomic. Liv Padel Four Ashes uses the same app with built-in split payment.
Pure Padel Solihull starts at £28/hr, in line with Pure Padel’s other sites – split four ways, that’s about £7 per player for an hour of court time, before racket hire if you need it. Liv Padel Four Ashes is also Playtomic-booked with split payment built into the app, so you’re not chasing three mates for bank transfers after the game.
Neither venue requires membership. Both are pure pay-and-play, which suits the way most casual players book – a WhatsApp group, a Playtomic search, a slot for Thursday night.
Leagues, socials, and beginner sessions
Both venues run structured play beyond open court hire. Liv Padel Four Ashes lists competitive matches, skill-building courses, and social sessions through Playtomic – worth checking if you’re newer to the sport and want a way in without arriving with your own four. Pure Padel Solihull, as part of the wider Pure Padel group, follows the same coaching and pro-shop model as its sister sites, so expect similar structured sessions to appear on its Playtomic listing as the club settles in.
If you’re picking between the two and don’t yet have a regular group, how to choose a padel club covers what to check before you commit – social ladder activity, court type, and whether the booking app works the way it should.
How to book
Both Solihull venues run entirely through Playtomic – search “Pure Padel Solihull” or “Liv Padel Four Ashes” in the app, pick a date and time, and pay your share. No separate account or membership portal to deal with, which is one less thing to manage than some of the Birmingham venues that split bookings across Playtomic and Padel Mates.
If you’re still building a regular four, Playtomic’s open match listings let you join a court with other local players rather than waiting until you’ve got a full group of your own – useful at either venue while the Solihull scene is still growing.
