Rugby has padel, and if you’ve searched for it you’ve probably already hit the confusion this town’s courts sit in. One directory lists three venues as if all are open. Only two are. The third – an 11-court site that would instantly be the biggest padel venue in Warwickshire – is real, but it isn’t taking bookings yet.
Here’s what’s live in Rugby, what it costs, and when the third venue is worth checking back on.

Does Rugby have padel courts?
Rugby has two working padel venues today – David Lloyd and Draycote Hotel – with a third, much larger site confirmed but not yet open.
That’s a decent spread for a town this size, and it’s worth being precise about it, because at least one directory site lists all three as though you could book a court at any of them this week. You can’t, not yet, at the third one.
David Lloyd Rugby
David Lloyd’s Rugby club has three dedicated outdoor padel courts, opened last summer and now seeing well over 700 unique users a month – a strong sign of how quickly the sport has taken hold here. Courts run from 7am to 9.30pm daily and are booked through the David Lloyd Clubs app, the same system members use for classes and other facilities.
The catch is access. This is a members’ club, so unless you’re a David Lloyd member or a guest brought in by one, these three courts aren’t open to you. If you’re already a member elsewhere in the David Lloyd network, your home-club booking rights typically extend to guest visits here too – worth checking with reception before you drive over expecting a casual pay-and-play session.
Draycote Hotel Padel Club
Draycote Hotel, set in 150 acres of Warwickshire countryside overlooking Draycote Water, has four floodlit, weatherproof outdoor courts – and unlike David Lloyd, anyone can book, no membership required. Reservations run through Playtomic, the booking app used by most independent UK padel venues.
One thing worth knowing before you turn up: the venue’s stated opening hours are 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, but bookings are currently restricted to an off-peak window of 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, while the club phases in its full schedule. If you were picturing an evening or weekend session, check Playtomic directly first – the advertised hours and the actual bookable slots aren’t the same thing right now. Pricing for an off-peak hour runs from around £25, rising to £40 for a two-hour block.
The courts also come with Clutch AI integration, giving players access to match highlights and stats after a session – a nice extra if you’re trying to track how your game’s developing.
Coming soon: Social Sports Society Rugby
Social Sports Society – known to most players simply as S3 Padel – has confirmed a Rugby venue with 11 planned outdoor courts. That would make it easily the largest padel site in Warwickshire, well ahead of anything currently open in Coventry or Warwick.
It isn’t open yet. S3’s own venues page lists Rugby as “coming soon” with no confirmed opening date – this is the detail that gets lost when a directory site lumps it in alongside the two live venues as though you could book there today. Based on S3’s other UK sites, the finished venue is expected to include a warm-up area, a pro shop, a cafe and bar, co-working space, and free parking. Worth bookmarking rather than booking, for now – there’s nothing to reserve until S3 confirms a date.
Nearest padel beyond Rugby
If you want more variety than Rugby’s current two venues offer, or you’re weighing up options while the S3 site is still being built, both Coventry and Warwick and Leamington Spa are under 20 minutes’ drive and between them add several more courts – including indoor options if the Warwickshire weather isn’t playing along. Solihull’s Arden club is a slightly longer trip but worth knowing about if you’re heading that direction anyway.
For now, though, Rugby itself covers the basics well: one members’ venue, one open to everyone, and a large venue on the way that will change the picture again once it opens.
