Plymouth used to be a one-venue city for padel. As of October 2026 it has two: the long-running outdoor courts at Marjon University and City Padel Plymouth, a new eight-court club at Kestrel Park that adds indoor play. That makes the city a much easier place to get a game in winter, and gives you a real choice on price and atmosphere.
Where to play in Plymouth
Padel United Plymouth at Marjon University (PL6 8BH) has four outdoor courts on the university’s sports campus in the north of the city – three doubles courts and a singles court, billed as the first pay-and-play singles court in the UK. Padel United UK, which also runs venues elsewhere in the South West, operates the site.
Court hire is £3.75pp per hour at peak and £3.00pp off-peak, so a doubles court costs £15 peak or £12 off-peak. Racket hire is £2. No membership is needed, and parking is free for three hours if you register your car at the sports centre reception. Booking is through Playtomic, and entry is by electronic gate.
City Padel Plymouth is at Unit 1-3, Kestrel Park, Burrington Way (PL5 3ST). Playtomic lists eight panoramic courts: five indoor doubles, two indoor singles and one outdoor doubles court. Opening hours are 07:00 to 23:00 Monday to Friday and 07:00 to 22:00 at weekends, with free parking, a cafeteria, a restaurant, changing rooms and lockers. A bar, warm-up area and work-from-home space are described as coming soon.
City Padel Plymouth: what we know
The club is now taking court bookings and running classes and socials through Playtomic. Court-hire prices are not published on the club page, so treat any figure you hear elsewhere as unconfirmed until you see it in the booking app.
What is listed: a £20 monthly membership with 15% off your share of the court, booking up to 14 days ahead and up to three bookings a day. An opening offer gives £150 of court credit for £100, expiring 31 October 2026.
Current sessions include Intro to Padel at £10 for an hour, Monday Drills & Matchplay at £15, a VX3 Americano at £15, a Ladies Coffee & Padel session at £12 and Padel & Pints socials at £18. The Americano format is the easiest way to meet people if you are new to the city.
Coaching and community in Plymouth
Padel United runs coaching for all levels at Marjon and arranges mix-in sessions and events on site. Check with the venue for the current timetable, as sessions change. The outdoor setting and small court count mean you tend to see the same faces week to week.
City Padel Plymouth lists intro sessions, drills and matchplay, levelling sessions, a ladies coffee morning and evening socials. With indoor courts, those sessions should be less affected by the weather than the outdoor option.
For finding regular partners once you have played a few times, the finding players guide covers the practical steps.
Which Plymouth venue suits you?
Marjon is the cheaper option on a per-hour basis and needs no membership, but the courts are outdoors. Plymouth’s Atlantic weather means wind and rain can cut sessions short, so summer and mid-week off-peak slots are the safest bets.
City Padel Plymouth is the one to try if you want indoor courts and structured sessions, with a café and bar listed among the facilities still to come. Pricing is the open question until it publishes court rates. If you play most weeks, the £20 membership could pay back quickly once you know the hourly rate.
Padel across Devon: what’s nearby
Plymouth sits at the western end of a Devon padel scene that has grown quickly in the last two years.
Exeter, roughly 45 minutes away, now has three venues and 17 courts: City Padel Exeter (6 indoor courts, club profile here), Slazenger Padel Exeter (9 indoor courts, opened 31 August 2026) and Woodbury Park (2 outdoor courts, £28 an hour for non-members, or £7 per non-member when playing with a member, who plays free).
Padel United Torquay at the Riviera International Centre sits roughly halfway along the route east. Torquay has six courts across two venues, including four outdoor courts at the Riviera International Centre.
What padel costs in Plymouth
Marjon’s £3.75pp peak rate is among the lowest of any dedicated UK venue. For context on how pricing compares across the country, and against tennis or squash, see the padel cost guide.
If you are heading east to Exeter’s indoor clubs, check Playtomic for live rates before you travel.
Getting started in Plymouth
If you have never played, book an intro or coached session before a full court. Marjon offers coaching and mix-ins, and City Padel Plymouth lists hour-long Intro to Padel sessions at £10. Both book through Playtomic, where you can also use matching to fill a court if you are short of players.
Plymouth’s padel scene now has two venues, and the South West has been one of the more active regions for new padel development. Cornwall players can also use Plymouth as a day trip – see the Cornwall padel guide.
