Oldham spent a while watching the Greater Manchester padel boom from a distance. Courts opened in Trafford, in West Gorton, in Rochdale – and for players in OL1 and OL2, the answer was always “drive somewhere else.” That picture has shifted. The borough now has three venues of its own: two covered courts in Saddleworth and two indoor clubs on the south side of the town centre, with Manchester’s big clubs within reach for anything you can’t get locally.

This guide covers the Oldham options first, then the nearby alternatives worth knowing about.

What’s open in the Oldham borough

Tame Valley Tennis and Squash Club in Greenfield, Saddleworth – at Greenbridge Lane, OL3 7EW – has two covered padel courts, bookable all day by members and non-members. The club opened them in early 2026 following an LTA-backed build that started in August 2025.

Pay-and-play costs £48 per court for 90 minutes, which works out at £12 per person in a group of four. Courts are available from 8:30am to 10pm and can be booked seven days ahead. Members pay £36 per court and can book ten days ahead; full adult membership (all racket sports) is £240. Coaching costs £50 for 90 minutes plus the £36 court fee, and the club also runs beginner sessions and matchplay coaching (£20 for non-members) and Americanos (£15 for non-members). Bookings go through the club’s own system at webbookings.co/tame rather than Playtomic. Note the 72-hour cancellation policy.

Greenfield is on the eastern edge of the Oldham borough, so from Oldham town centre or Chadderton it’s a drive out along the A669.

Park Padel Sports Club at 36 Park Road, Alexandra (OL8 1DB) is the borough’s biggest padel venue. Playtomic lists three indoor panoramic courts (two doubles, one singles), open 9am to midnight every day, alongside cricket lanes, badminton and table tennis, with a café, changing rooms and free parking. Memberships on Playtomic are £10 a month (Gold, 25% off weekday off-peak) or £20 a month (Platinum, 50% off weekday off-peak); hourly rates are shown when you book. The club asks for sports trainers only on court.

Padel Inn Oldham is a separate venue, at Unit 6, Belgrave Mill, Honeywell Lane (OL8 2JP). It has a single indoor panoramic court, which it calls its Super Panoramic Court, with free parking, a café and changing rooms, and it books through Playtomic. With only one court, it suits a booked game with friends better than drop-in social play.

Rochdale: The Padel Spot

For more choice nearby, Rochdale is the closest alternative. The Padel Spot is at Caldershaw Business Park on Rooley Moor Road (OL12 7LQ), on the northern side of Rochdale. Playtomic lists three indoor doubles courts and an outdoor singles court, with late opening: 10am to 1am Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2am on Friday, 7am to 2am on Saturday and 7am to 1am on Sunday.

The venue has disabled access, equipment rental and free parking. Hourly court rates are shown at booking rather than on the club page; memberships are £20 a month, and intro classes are listed at £15. The Playtomic open match feature means you can book a slot without organising a group.

Manchester: the bigger clubs

When you want more courts, more choice, or more structured play, Manchester is the logical step up. The Manchester padel guide covers the full picture, but a few venues are particularly relevant for Oldham players.

Carbon Padel in West Gorton has 17 courts under one roof and books through Playtomic. For players based in Oldham who are playing twice a week or more, it is worth comparing its membership options with hourly pay-and-play rates. The club also runs social sessions, coaching programmes, and open match sessions throughout the week – the kind of structured padel calendar that smaller venues can’t sustain.

Closer to the city centre, Pure Padel on Dutton Street in Cheetham Hill has six panoramic courts and is bookable via Playtomic. Cheetham Hill is closer to Oldham than most central Manchester venues, making it a useful middle ground between the borough’s own courts and the full city offer.

For anyone without a car, the Metrolink runs from Oldham Mumps and Oldham King Street into Manchester Victoria, and Pure Padel is around a ten-minute walk from Victoria.

Booking and getting started

For Tame Valley in Saddleworth: book via webbookings.co/tame. Coaching enquiries go to the club directly. No Playtomic presence at time of writing.

For Park Padel Sports Club, Padel Inn Oldham and The Padel Spot in Rochdale: all three use Playtomic, which handles court hire and open match sessions. If you’re new to the sport, an open session is the cleanest way in – Playtomic fills the other spaces, so you show up without needing to organise four people.

The padel court near me guide covers how to search across platforms if you want to compare what’s available across the wider area.

Oldham’s padel scene is at an early stage, but it has moved quickly. Three venues in the borough and Rochdale and Manchester close enough to cover any gaps mean a casual player looking to get on court has far better options than a year ago.
