Northampton is not a town that usually makes headlines in the UK padel conversation. That changed in 2026, when Padel Social House opened its doors at Brackmills Industrial Estate with 12 indoor courts, a café-restaurant, a physio clinic, saunas, an ice bath and a competition show court built to professional standards. At 44,787 square feet, it is one of the largest dedicated padel facilities in the country.

PSH is the headline venue, but it arrived alongside a wider expansion. By late summer 2026 the town has six padel venues and more than 30 courts in and around the town – Padel Power’s 9 indoor courts, four smaller sites, and prices that range from about £21 an hour at an outdoor court to £50 for a peak indoor slot. This guide covers all of them.

What Padel Social House is

Padel Social House – PSH to its members – describes itself as a padel and social club. The framing is accurate. The 12 Super Panoramic courts are the centrepiece, but the building around them has been designed for people who want somewhere to spend time as well as somewhere to play.

At launch, CEO and co-founder Edward Dowdall said the aim was to build “a space where sport, social life, and community meet all-year round – a home for padel that welcomes everyone, from beginners to professionals.” That ambition is visible in what’s on site: a Matcha Social Cafe serving food and drink, a players’ lounge with big screens showing live sport, a private function room (23 metres by 5 metres with a projector, usable by corporates and private groups), a pro shop, a Technogym warm-up zone, and first-class changing facilities.

PSH was announced as a non-alcoholic club – notable for a space aiming at social events, and a decision that broadens who feels at home there.

The courts – what to expect

Twelve Super Panoramic courts across one facility is a significant number. For context, most UK padel venues operate between 4 and 8 courts. The only straightforward comparison in the region is Padel Power at Kings Heath in Northampton itself, which has 9 courts – itself one of the larger sites in the East Midlands.

Of PSH’s 12 courts, 11 are doubles courts and 1 is a singles court. One is a competition court, built for tournaments and club events.

All courts are indoor and enclosed, which matters in a British climate. The panoramic glass construction gives the space a sense of light without sacrificing the visual quality of watching play. Courts are available seven days a week, 7am to 11pm.

Court type Number Notes
Indoor doubles (Super Panoramic) 11 Available 7am–11pm daily
Indoor singles 1 Bookable via Playtomic
Competition show court 1 (included in 12) Tournament court

Booking and pricing

Courts at PSH book through the Playtomic app (or via the club’s WhatsApp reception), with pay-as-you-play doubles courts at £40 an hour off-peak and £50 at peak times, and the singles court from £20. Academy coaching sessions are available at £10–20 per class across a range of ability levels. The club also runs tournaments at £15–£25 entry, with regular events for different skill groups.

PSH offers a House+ membership at £24.99 a month, on a rolling 30-day contract or a 12-month plan paid upfront, that includes 10% off court bookings, the café, the club shop and the physio clinic, priority 21-day advance booking, and 10% off packaged group padel holidays. A junior membership is also available. There is also a credit wallet scheme: a £200 purchase provides £250 in credit (25% bonus), redeemable against courts, equipment rental, tournaments, and coaching.

If you’re visiting for the first time, the pro shop provides equipment rental – useful if you’re making the trip without your own racket.

Facilities, café, and what’s on site

The Matcha Social Cafe and Restaurant serves hot and cold food and drink. The café is a proper social space – a players’ lounge with big screens showing live sport, and the feel of a venue that wants you to arrive early and stay late.

Beyond playing, PSH runs Americanos, themed social events and sessions for specific groups: women’s socials and ladies’ coaching, a junior and teenage club, an over-60s social, and corporate bookings for the function room. The private physio clinic adds a recovery dimension that most padel venues don’t offer. There are also saunas and a recovery ice bath on site.

For beginners starting out in padel, the club runs introductory academy sessions – a lower-stakes entry point than turning up for an open court session without knowing what to expect.

Getting there

Padel Social House is at 45 Salthouse Road, Brackmills Industrial Estate, Northampton NN4 7EX. The venue is five minutes from M1 Junction 15, accessible via the A45 and Bedford Road. There is parking at the front and rear. Bus routes 12 and 53 serve the area from Northampton town centre, and there is a cycle bay on site.

Other padel options in Northampton

PSH is the largest venue, but Northampton now has five other places to play.

Padel Power operates 9 indoor courts at Kingsfield Business Park in Kings Heath – seven doubles and two singles courts, opened in 2026. Doubles courts cost £32 an hour off-peak and £36 at peak times, and the singles courts start at £20. For players who want a smaller, more club-feel environment than PSH, Padel Power is worth considering. Both venues book via Playtomic.

Brampton Heath Golf and Padel, on Sandy Lane in Church Brampton (NN6 8AX), has four roofed panoramic courts open 7am–10pm daily. Non-members pay from £28 an hour, and a padel membership costs £135 a year. Book on Playtomic.

Play Padel Grendon, a few miles outside town, has three outdoor panoramic courts in the grounds of Grendon Hall. Rates run £26–£36 an hour.

Overstone Padel, north of Northampton off the A43, has 2 indoor courts under a 9-metre ceiling, so weather doesn’t affect play. Rates run £28–£36 an hour.

Northampton County Lawn Tennis Club in Weston Favell has 1 outdoor floodlit padel court, the cheapest weekday option in town at £26 for 75 minutes (£36 at weekends), with a padel-only membership available. The club says it applied in September 2025 to build 2 further courts.

David Lloyd Kettering, about 15 miles away, has three outdoor padel courts for its members.

For those in the broader region, padel in Peterborough covers the nearest neighbouring city, which has two operational venues with more on the way.

Is Northampton worth the trip from elsewhere?

Yes, if a 12-court facility with a show court, café-restaurant, physio, and full coaching programme is worth a drive to you. The M1 Junction 15 access makes PSH reachable from Leicester, Milton Keynes, Coventry, and Luton in under an hour. From Birmingham, it’s around 50 minutes. Travelling north, Derby’s padel courts – 21 indoor courts at We Are Padel and Social Sports Society – are also within an hour’s drive.

The scale of PSH changes the calculation for travelling padel players. Most city venues in the UK don’t offer a competition court alongside social facilities at this level. If you’re in a group of four or more and want a dedicated day out around the sport, the infrastructure at Brackmills supports that in a way that most venues simply can’t.

The UK padel scene has been growing rapidly, and venues like PSH represent the next stage of that development: facilities built for padel-first, not padel-as-an-add-on. Northampton has arrived.
